The description of an electric point gauge and tube orifice plates for determining furrow flow rates is given. The gauge is a double‐pointed unit, constructed so that the head loss across the orifice plate is obtained as a single reading. The equipment is particularly useful in the evaluation of intake rates in furrow irrigation on small experimental plots, since it can be used with little or no damage to the plots.
