Zinc and copper systems were titrated with NaOH in the presence of varying amounts of KH 2 PO 4 . The data indicated zinc formed the orthophosphate, Zn 3 (PO 4 ) 2 · 4H 2 O while copper precipitated as the basic phosphate, Cu 5 (H 2 PO 4 ) 2 (OH) 8 . The pK sp calculated from the dissociation of these phosphates at their respective isoelectric pH values were 47.9 and 92.5 for zinc and copper phosphate, respectively. Basic copper phosphate was less soluble than zinc orthophosphate at all pH levels studied.
