S nutrient deficiencies that may be encountered under certain ecological conditions in connection with the re-establishment of forests on old fields in New York were investigated. It was demonstrated that these' deficiencies could be corrected, at least in part, by applications of forest debris, forest humus, and potash fertilizers. In addition some light was thrown upon certain aspects of the nutrition of some tree species commonly used for reforestation.
