ALTHOUGH eastern red cedar, Juniperus virginiana L., is one of the more valuable timber trees in the Ozarks, little is known about its basic site requirements. Preliminary to determination of the potentialities of the species, a classification of site productivity is essential. To meet this need, a study was undertaken with the purpose of evaluating the most important site factors, describing them so that they could be easily recognized and measured in the field, and organizing them into a site classification scheme.
