T Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station has a fertility experiment at Blacksburg, Va., which has been in existence since 1909. Numerous 'reports (2, 3, 5, 6, 13, 14) have been published on the crop yields, soil aggregation, and physical and chemical properties of the soils from this experiment. In a previous investigation (n), it was noted that a significantly greater amount of exchangeable potassium was found in the surface 6 inches of the plots which had received either muriate of potash or manure treatments than on,check plots. The purpose of this study was to continue the investigation of the exchangeable potassium found in the surface soil, and to determine the amount of exchangeable potassium that may have been leached from the surface to.the subsoil.
