T distribution of solonetz soils in Saskatchewan, Canada, and certain of their morphological and chemical characteristics have been discussed previously (6, 9, io). As part of the soil survey investigations in Saskatchewan a study of the physical characteristics of solonetz soils was undertaken in order to obtain a better understanding of adverse properties affecting their use for crop production. For purposes of comparison, several normal zonal soils were included in the study. This paper is a brief report on some of the more significant findings. Details on methods and results are presented elsewhere (14).
