I am submitting herewith the list of Soil Series Names that have been officially passed upon and established since the previous report. This is submitted in the same form in which the Bibliography of Soil Series Names is being published and can be a supplement to that list. Two hundred sixtyone names are submitted, of these five are not true soil series but represent conditions (e.g., alluvial sands) that are being shown on soil maps. Two new series were reported in the Third Report of the British Soils .Correlation Committee; forty-nine have been reported by the Soil Survey of the Bureau of Plant Industry; while ninety-three are reported by the Soil Conservation Service.. Descriptions of the two British series are found in the report cited. The descriptions of the soils established by the Soil Survey and Soil Conservation Service will be published. Australia has submitted fifty-four new series names, New Zealand fifty, Canada four, and Mexico nine. Survey work is also going on in a number of other parts of the world, but no reports of progress indicating new series established have been received. There are seven duplications of names, that were already in use in other parts of the world; five from New Zealand one each from Canada and Mexico. With the new bibliography now'available such duplications are avoidable in the future.
