Cotton germplasm SJ-U86 (Reg. no. GP-868, PI 642414 and NSSL 441398.01), released in California, USA in 2006, was derived from the cross between cultivars FiberMax 958 and SG 248. SJ-U86 has superior lint yield, fibre length and competitive fibre strength under heat stress environments compared to the Acala cottons of California.
