Reaction to different Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici cultures was used to determine probable genotypes for seedling resistance in several hard spring wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) cultivars grown in North Dakota. Many of the cultivars studied can be combined into groups on the basis of sharing the same genes for resistance. Several cultivars probably have Lr2a and/or Lrl0 and a few contained Lrl . It is likely that most of these cultivars have genes in addition to those determined by this method as well as genes for adult plant resistance.
