Cultures with selective pathogenicity were developed through hybridization or selfing to identify genes for resistance in flax ( Linum usitatissimum L.) to flax rust [ Melampsora lini (Ehrenb.) Lev). Selected races of M. lint were crossed and selfed to produce virulent patterns to identify combinations of resistance alleles L 11 , M 3 , M 6 , and P 3 relatively simple.
