Soybean [ Glycine max (L.) Merr.] genotypes, differing in response to three physiologic races of Phytophthora megasperma Drechs. var. sojae Hildeb, were inoculated with each individual race and with a mixture of the three races in a hydroponic system. No antagonistic effect among races was found. Any genotype showing susceptibility to one or more races when tested individually was also found to be susceptible when tested with the mixture of three races. The results indicate that the technique would simplify screening for multiple race resistance to phytophthora rot.
