The Duncan model was tested on a rice ( Oryza sativa L.) crop growing in an environmental chamber, where all the required input data could be collected. The data included; incident light environment, leaf optical properties and photosynthetic rates, and canopy architecture. Canopy extinction coefficients and canopy photosynthetic rates calculated with the model agreed with the measured values, within the estimated accuracy of the tests (± 20%).
