Forage was harvested from parents, single‐crosses, open‐pollinated, polycross, and F 2 progeny of 10 genotypes of tall fescue ( Festuca arundinacea , Schreb.). All methods of progeny testing identified high. and low performing parents. The high yielding parent was involved in most of the high yielding crosses, and was present among the high yielding open‐pollinated and polycross progeny lines.
