Tests of lines of ‘Chinese Spring‘ wheat ( Triticum aestivum L.) with single pairs of chromosomes substituted from ‘Thatcher’ had indicated that chromosomes 2B and 3B carried similar genes for resistance to the stem‐rust organism. Results of crosses between near‐isogenic lines derived from the substitution lines show that the resistance gene in the 3B substitution line is Srl6 , which is located on chromosome 2B.
