Six cultivars of jute ( Corchorus olitorius L.) were used in a study to ascertain the effect of plant height on fiber yield. Results obtained suggest that one or more plant characteristics such as the amount of bast (secondary phloem tissue) affect net fiber yield more directly than plant height.
