A decaploid chromosome level (2n=70, 73) was predominant in 27 plants of Agropyron elongatum (Host) Beauv. from eight locations in Turkey. Octoploidy was detected at only two locations. Natural hybridization between octoploid and decaploid plants was evident for a collection site near Kayseri, Turkey, where one plant with 2n=73 and two plants with 2n=63 were detected. A hexaploid chromosome level detected earlier in collections of this taxon from Turkey was not found in this study.
