Certain R alleles of maize were used to test for the presence of the floury‐2 allele in putative double mutants opaque‐2, floury‐2. With the use of double pollinations a generation of testcrossing could be eliminated for floury‐2. The results indicate the R nj allele could be used to advantage in the genetic backgrounds tested.
