Semisterility in guar, Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub., segregated in a 1:1 ratio and was found to be due to a reciprocal translocation. We conclude that the low chromosome number (n = 7), differences in size of chromosomes, and ease of staining make guar one of the few legumes suitable for karyotype and cytogenetic analyses.
