Callus tissue was induced on parenchyma tissue of shoot apices, leaves, and inflorescences of Saccharum sp. using a basal mineral medium supplemented with coconut water (10% by volume) and 2,4‐D. Transfer of callus tissue to a non‐2,4‐D basal medium induced the differentiation of plants. In all the plants studied, morphological variants from the parental clone were observed.
