The inheritance of purple‐tipped wings in flowers of Korean lespedeza ( Lespedeza stipclacea Maxim .) was studied in two crosses. F 1 , F 2 , and F 3 , data indicate that the purple‐tipped wing mutant character is conditioned by a single recessive gene pair. The following genetic symbols are proposed: Ptw for the extended, white wing (normal) allele and ptw for the proximate, purple‐tipped wing (mutant) allele.
