The breeding and cytological behavior of 6x Avena amphiploids and of amphiploid × A. sativa L. F 1 hybrids and their derivatives depend on the genomes involved and their interrelationships. Inter‐ and intragenome relationships among certain Avena species are reviewed to aid in the interpretation of experimental results to be reported in subsequent papers from the Wisconsin Station.
