A technique involving wooden bars for space planting barley (Hordeum vulgare) seeds in the field is described. The bars are drilled with holes 1″ apart to contain the seeds and are fitted into a specially constructed wooden box for transporting. A special furrow‐making tool which can be attached to a tractor is also described. This technique has been used successfully for planting mutagen‐treated barley seeds, even when they are wet.
