Diallel progenies of four clones were grown for 3 years. The mean squares for general combining ability (g.c.a.) were significant for flowering date and forage yield. The mean squares for specific combining ability (s.c.a.) were significant for flowering date, vigor score, disease score, and forage yield. Mean squares for crosses, g.c.a., and s.c,a. were not significant for survaval or growth type. The interrelationship of several variables were investigated by means of correlation and multiple regression. Significant correlation (P = 0.001) existed for yield with vigor, disease score, and flowering date. Disease score and survival were also highly correlated. No correlation was found for growth type with yield or flowering date. Multiple regression showed that most of the variation in yield was related to vigor rather than to other characters.
