The phytotoxicity of five herbicides to spanish peanuts was evaluated under conditions of two planting depths (2 and 4 on) and two sprinkler irrigation regimes. In one regime 5 cm of water were applied immediately after planting and treating and the other regime consisted of natural rainfall. No herbicide treatment consistently reduced peanut yields below the untreated check over a 3‐year period, regardless of planting depth or moisture regimes. Peanut grades were also not affected. Weed control was good with all treatments.
