TN THE last few years refined analytical techniques were -*• developed which permit the determination of the oil content and composition of samples as small as a single oilseed or even a portion of an oilseed. Furthermore, the nature of the problems now pursued in studies of the physiological, genetic and biochemical aspects of vegetable oil synthesis has created a necessity for analyses of very small seed samples. These two parallel developments have brought up a problem in seed sampling on which additional information is necessary.
