Swine manure presents environmental challenges, especially related to phosphorus and trace element composition. Phytase feed supplements to improve feed phosphorus utilization became common after 2003, but did this lower phosphorus concentrations in manure from real-world production barns? Other changes in feed also occurred in the last 20 years, notably the use of zinc supplements in nursery barns.
