Development and adoption of new agricultural practices such as conservation tillage or nutrient management is frequently motivated by a need to reduce impacts on downstream water quality. We understand the effects of specific practices largely through plotand field-scale trials conducted over periods of a few years. But how does changing agricultural management affect downstream water quality over one or two decades?
