The objectives of this study were to: (i) investigate any yield advantage or disadvantage associated with drought‐tolerant hybrids under May and June planting dates; (ii) evaluate drought‐tolerant hybrid response to plant population and determine if the optimum population varies with planting date; and (iii) determine the effect of maturity group on optimizing plant population under May and June planting dates.
