Core Ideas Nitrogen management affected nutritive value of endophyte‐free tall fescue R4 and stubble hays. Increases in crude protein of hays across N rates were maximized with late winter and knife application. Fiber contents of R4 hay increased with N rate to 100 lb/acre when applied in late fall. Fiber contents of stubble hay were greater with late‐fall N fertilization.
