Agricultural research, like most present day science generally consists of short‐term studies. A sustainable agriculture, however, requires a long‐term field and laboratory approach to determine the, complex interactions of soils, plants, animals, climate, and management. Short‐term funding and pressures to publish are the major, factors discouraging the initiation of needed long term crop and animal research projects.
