A tube solarimeter was modified to measure energy (310‐ to 2,700‐nm waveband) received on upper and lower surfaces to give either an additive or a net measurement. A glass filter fitted to a solarimeter provided an instrument sensitive to energy in the 700‐ to 2,750‐nm waveband. Visible energy (310‐ to 700‐nm waveband) may be measured by difference in readings of instruments without and with the filter. A solarimeter that directly measures energy in the 310‐ to 700‐nm waveband is described.
