Applications of a,a,a ‐trifluoro‐2,6‐dinitro‐ N,N ‐dipropylp‐toluidine (trifluralin) at .56 and 1.12 kg/ha and S‐ethyl dipropylthiocarbamate (EPTC) at 1.68 and 3.36 kg/ha were incorporated before planting. Five different tillage implements were used to determine the influenc of incorporation on weed control effectiveness in field beans ( Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivar ‘Great Northern UI 1140.’ Weed yields were lowest where .56 and 1.12 kg/ha of trifluralin and 3.36 kg/ha EPTC were used and incorporated 5.08 to 10.16 cm in the soil using the tandem disk. Bean seed and plant yields were significantly higher when herbicides were used.
