A questionnaire on attitude toward split appointments was sent to 350 extension agronomists in the United States, Of those responding, 38.5% were on split appointments and 64.7% were in favor of them. Those respondents with a research division or who desired a research division indicated the necessity of technician and budget support for such an appointment to be successful.
