A transportable unit for harvesting potatoes in experimental plots was developed by adapting a single row, power‐take‐off potato digger to a “three‐point” hydraulic tractor hitch. Digging depth was controlled by using a double acting hydraulic cylinder as the top link in combination with the lifting arms of the hitch. With the unit potatoes may be harvested from small plot areas without disturbing adjacent areas.
