Sod knit was significantly increased by fertilization. Tilling fertilizer into the soil prior to sod placement had no effect. The best fertilizer placement seemed to be one‐half under and one‐half over the sod. A useful mechanism for mechanically measuring sod knit is described. Other methods of measuring sod knit and fertilizer effect were not successful.
