The oxidation of elemental sulfur added to 52 soils of various textures was measured after three incubation periods. Although on the average more of the added S was oxidized in the coarse textured soils, statistical analysis showed that soil texture had no effect on S oxidation for any of the incubation periods. In general, the major portion of the S oxidation occured during the first 30 days.
