The effect of selected fungicides, herbicides, and fungicide‐herbicide combinations on emergence and seedling growth of cotton was studied on four soils in the greenhouse. Herbicides used as preplant, preemergence, and postemergence treatments all reduced seedling growth. Soil fungicides increased emergence and early growth of cotton plants; however, this increase was not evident in 7‐week‐old plants. Both emergence values and seedling growth were reduced by various pesticide combinations. Plants from plots treated with Lanstan and then treated preemergence with prometryne emerged faster than plants treated with other combinations. However, Lanstanfluometuron treated plants were taller at 2 weeks than plants receiving other treatment combinations. Interactions were also measured between soils and all chemicals.
