Synopsis Near‐infrared and total shortwave radiation were measured at various heights in corn using Japanese EKO solarimeters, with and without appropriate light filters. From these measurements, visible radiation was calculated. The resulting data indicated that the attenuation coefficients for radiation within this crop were not constant. Near‐infrared radiation was found to be a higher percentage of the total shortwave radiation at the bottom of the crop than at the top.
