Synopsis Considerable variation in fineness occurs among agricultural limestones from different geographical regions but most are of the ground and meal grades. Log normal plots of sieve opening diameters against cumulative percents passing, and the quartiles, median, and sorting coefficient are useful in studying particle size distributions. Specifications requiring that 50% shall pass a selected median sieve, and that 95% pass a coarser sieve, are suggested.
