Synopsis Herbicides reduced yields of weeds and increased yields of alfalfa and birdsfoot trefoil during the seedling year. EPTC did not control broadleaved weeds as well as neburon or 4‐(2,4‐DB), but EPTC was superior to neburon for weed‐grass control. General weed control was obtained with neburon and with 4‐(2,4‐DB) in combination with dalapon or EPTC. None of the herbicide injured legumes to any extent.
