Synopsis Root zone temperature of 15° C. for 15 days adversely affected dry matter production compared to a constant temperature of 20° C., while root zone temperature of 25° C. for 12 days stimulated dry matter production compared to 20° C. It was not possible, however, to show that there was a specific period at which root zone temperature was most critical in the early growth of corn.
