Synopsis Mixtures containing alfalfa and orchard‐grass were the highest yielding. Mixtures cut 3 times produced higher yields than those cut 5 times. Yields from 5 cuttings were increased more by nitrogen than yields from 3 cuttings. Nitrogen had no influence on yields of alfalfa mixtures cut 3 times, but increased those cut 5 times. Birdsfoot trefoil and ladino clover mixtures were predominately grass, especially when nitrogen was applied.
