Synopsis Percent of grain moisture in ripening grain sorghum hybrids and average number of days from planting to one‐half bloom were highly correlated, but correlations were lower at successive sampling dates as the crop approached maturity. A low correlation was observed when grain moisture and days from planting to bloom were compared within a single maturity group. Days to one‐half bloom are a general indication of relative maturity of sorghum hybrids, but differential drying and filling rates are also important in determining relative harvest maturities.
