Synopsis June plus July rainfall accounted for 75% of the variation in maximum yields of corn with increasing rates of applied P over a 12‐year period at Greenville, Ky. While the level of net return was strongly dependent upon June plus July rainfall, the actual yield responses to applied P and the optimum application rates of P were largely independent of the above rainfall variable.
