Synopsis Corn topping resulted in significant increases in rate of moisture loss for some treatments, but all reductions were small and appeared to be of no practical value. Topping below the 6th leaf on or before 40 days after silking in 1958 and on or before 30 days in 1959 gave significant yield reductions. Some significant yield reductions resulted when fewer leaves were removed, but these results were not consistent.
