Synopsis Yields of grass‐legume pasture on Manitou silt loam were increased in only 1 of 3 years by nitrogen fertilization. On Pembroke silt loam, yields of a pasture composed mainly of grass were increased in each of 4 years by nitrogen fertilization; yields of a grass‐legume mixture were increased in 3 of 4 years. Total uptake of nitrogen was closely correlated with yields.
