Synopsis For resistance to each of two diseases, bacterial wilt and common leafspot, synthetic variety performance essentially agreed with the average performance of all the crosses among the clones of which each synthetic was composed. There was no evidence of specific combining ability among the clonal crosses for either of these characters.
