SYNOPSIS. Estimates of genetic variance were obtained for a number of agronomic and chemical characters under a model of additive genetic, dominance, and additive X additive epistatic variances. From the estimates of variance approximately the same yield is expected following one generation of full-sib family as compared to F~ family selection. Selection for yield alone causes an expected decrease in percent nicotine.
