Synopsis To estimate a frequency distribution of winter wheat yields from climatic data a yield‐estimating equation is desired satisfying the condition that the mean and variance of the estimated yields be the same as those of the actual yields used to derive the equation. Partial regression coefficients of this equation are obtained by dividing the corresponding coefficients of a multiple regression equation by the coefficient of multiple correlation, R.
