Synopsis A substantial variety ✕ location ✕ year second‐order interaction was observed for lint yield. Variety ✕ year and variety ✕ location interactions, however, were small and nonsignificant. Thus it does not appear necessary to divide the North Carolina cotton area into subareas for testing purposes.
